Guidelines for Smoke on the Square BBQ Competition

  • Contest is limited to charcoal and wood only, no gas grills
  • Teams will provide their own grills, charcoal or wood, seasonings, sauces, utensils, serving dishes, trash and used charcoal removal.
  • Teams must provide their own wash basins for sanitizing with 1 lid of bleach to 1 gallon of water.
  • Any size grill, smoker, or cooker is welcome
  • On-site set up begins at 6:00 p.m. June 9, 2017
  • Meat for judging to be provided by Contestant
  • Meat for People’s Choice provided by Community Center of Hope if registered by June 1. If registered after June 1 but wish to participate in People’s Choice, you must supply your own pre-packaged pork butt. People’s Choice turn-ins are at 5:30PM
  • Judging in Six Categories beginning at 2:30 p.m. June 10th.(Sauce and Dessert do not count towards the overall competition results and are stand alone categories.)
    BBQ Sauce – 2:30pm (Optional)
    Chicken – 3:00pm
    Ribs – 3:30pm
    Pork – 4:00pm
    Beef – 4:30pm
    Dessert – 5:00pm (Optional)
    People’s Choice – 5:30pm
    Award’s Ceremony – 6:00pm

Meats will be judged on taste/flavor and texture/tenderness.5825_576288545725802_1383818829_n

Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion trophies will also be awarded

Pork Butt will be provided to contestants by Community Center

People’s Choice Winner will be determined by Public Vote

Registration Fee – $50
Pre-Registration Required for People’s Choice Competition
No refunds of registration
